Some of our Nuns, gathered at one of their Association meetings. (Click on Association for more information)

The Carmelite Nuns are the best known branch of the Order, even though they live an enclosed life. There are some 12,000 Carmelite Nuns world-wide; in our Australian region, there are 7 Carmelite Monasteries in Australia, 2 in New Zealand, 1 each in Samoa & Papua New Guinea.

Each Monastery of Carmelite Nuns is autonomous. The Nuns generally remain in the community that they enter for their entire life. Many of the communities have prepared information on their particular Carmel, its history, and their way of life. Click on the name of the Carmel in the list below for more information.
